The Making Space in Dalston project was developed and designed by J & L Gibbons landscape architects and muf architecture | art, funded by the Mayor of London’s Design for London unit and Hackney Council. It proposed a range of diverse public realm projects that emerged through a process of deliberative planning and engagement, that has since been heralded as exemplar on the global stage.

Is this what you mean by localism, was published in 2012, features an essay by Kieran Long and series of interviews with local stakeholders providing an account of the lessons learnt from an unpredictable and productive collaboration with local people. It will be of interest to planners, project managers, local communities, politicians and other local authority stakeholders. It also has much to offer developers, Landscape Architects, Architects and urban designers about how places can be planned and projects delivered with a meaningful and collaborative approach.
